The Intersection of Traditional and Digital Methods

Altered Vision... The Artistic Interpretation of the Photographic Image

Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth” Picasso

Photography is, and has always been, the manipulation of light by a set of tools and processes employed by the photographic artist. Likewise the purpose of art, has always been to create interpretations which when viewed result in emotions, either negative or positive. The major change that has occurred in recent years for photography is the dramatic increase in possibilities resulting from the application of modern digital technology. This exhibit celebrates these new possibilities.

Three artists are represented here, each utilizing different processes, tools and perspectives:

Rich Bergeman hand works the soft surface of the Polaroid SX-70 prints with burnishing tools to create painterly versions of what he originally saw.

Mike Bergen applies both Photoshop and Painter software in order to emulate oil, watercolor and other traditional art media.

Harold Wood utilizes the power of Photoshop tools and filters to simplify and enhance his images and create painterly effects.
